D-Link DGS-1100-06/ME Smart Managed Metro Ethernet Switch, 6 Port Gigabit with 1 Port SFP
D-Link DGS-1100-06/ME - Description
Smart Managed Metro Ethernet Switch, 6 Port Gigabit with 1 Port SFP
D-Link DGS-1100-06/ME is a Layer 2 Managed Metro Ethernet switch featuring five 10/100/1000Base-T ports and one dual-speed SFP port. Designed for high-end residential environments and Metro Ethernet access layers, this switch supports IPTV applications with robust multicast capabilities and durable hardware. Its copper ports are protected against 6KV voltage surges, safeguarding the device from power spikes such as lightning. The SFP port provides fiber uplink capabilities, ideal for FTTx deployment.
Optimized for Multicast and IPTV:
To meet the increasing demand for IPTV, the DGS-1100-06/ME offers a range of multicast features including IGMP Snooping, Limited IP Multicast, ISM VLAN, and MLD Snooping for IPv6 environments. Limited IP Multicast allows users to create multicast address profiles and assign them to specific ports, simplifying subscriber management. ISM VLAN helps reduce redundant multicast streams at the uplink layer, and MLD Snooping ensures multicast efficiency in IPv6 networks.
Enhanced Performance and Network Stability:
Engineered for metro access, this switch supports features like Loopback Detection to prevent network loops and maintain system stability. Its QoS functionality allows packet classification and prioritization based on service or user level. Network administrators can fine-tune bandwidth per port in increments as small as 64 Kbps. The storm control feature helps manage excessive traffic and maintain network integrity.
Integrated Security Features:
The DGS-1100-06/ME includes several security features to maintain control over network devices. Static MAC filtering restricts traffic from unregistered devices, while Port Security limits the number of MAC addresses per port, protecting against MAC flooding attacks.
Access Control and Authentication:
Supporting both port-based and host-based 802.1X access control, the switch enables secure user authentication via local or RADIUS servers. Unauthorized users can be placed in a Guest VLAN, granting them limited network access.
Versatile Management Options:
This switch offers multiple configuration options including Telnet, SNMP, and HTTP. It features a user-friendly web interface for easy network management. The inclusion of LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) allows the switch to communicate its capabilities and detect neighboring devices, aiding in network topology mapping.
Diagnostic and Troubleshooting Tools:
For quick diagnostics, the DGS-1100-06/ME includes a Cable Diagnostics feature that assesses cable length and condition. It also supports IEEE 802.3ah, enabling administrators to monitor network health and swiftly identify faulty links or connection issues in Ethernet links.
