The SX550X-24F-K9-EU offers hardware redundancy at minimal additional cost. Redundant power is provided using an external Cisco RPS2300 RPS. In the event of power loss to the transformer (due to AC power failure or power outage), the transformer will automatically and instantaneously operate with RPS. This switch happens quickly, so there is no loss of traffic or device reboots. The RPS2300 can be connected to up to six 550X Series switches for redundancy. Cooling fan frequency is provided by N+1 preset configuration. The switch can fully support all its features during the lifetime of the product with only N fans. If a fan fails, the backup fan automatically turns on without causing any downtime.

These Series provides an additional level of flexibility with Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) support. VRRP allows you to extend the same flexibility by deploying individual switches to entire network domains. If a problem occurs running VRRP between two stacks, you can immediately connect one stack to the other and continue working even after it fails.

These Series also supports dual imaging, allowing you to perform software updates without worrying about network interruptions during the update.

Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) and 60W PoE:

The  550X Series switches support up to 30W per port over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) (IEEE 802.3at). The switches also support 60W PoE in select ports to power built-in switches, powerful wireless access points or connected lighting. Power supply is intelligently managed so that only the amount of power required by the end point is supplied and not wasted. As a result, switches can support devices such as 802.11ac wireless access points, video-enabled IP phones, surveillance cameras and other devices that require more power.

SX550X-24F PoE capabilities simplify advanced technology deployment by allowing network endpoints to connect over a single Ethernet cable and operate without the need for separate power supplies. Thee Switches are fully compatible with IEEE 802.11af PoE and legacy Cisco PoE protocols.
