Symbol LS9203 barcode scanner with USB cable - won't connect to PC.

The scanner green light comes on for a moment, and a non-moving laser dot is emitted.

The computer gives the regular USB-device-connected sound, but about two seconds later it gives the USB-device-removed sound.

Any suggestions?

Hi Mluckham. Far more concerning is your "non-moving dot". The LS9203 is an omnidirectional scanner (as you know) and it should emit a lovely grid of lines regardless. If the single dot you're describing looks like that of a laser pointer, then there is a fairly serious problem within the unit and would explain it not connecting. If that is the case, I would suggest looking into your warranty and getting it fixed or a replacement.
