I have a Maddog Multimedia USB2.0 external harddrive enclosure. It usd to work at one point, but is not anymore. When I plug it in to the computer, I get the sound effect of my computer registering that it is there. It is not listed as a storage devide such as G:\\. I cannot get access to the files. Should I try to download a new driver. I have not done that yet.

I realize the above questions are almost a year old but someone may try to research this at a later time so I thought I'd throw in my two cents.I have the Maddog Multimedia USB2.0/eSATA external harddrive enclosure which I connected to my computer last night but could only get it to appear as a "USB device" to my computer (in control Panel-System-Device Manager). It would not appear under Computer management so I could not force a drive letter on it and it would not appear in Windows Explorer. I removed the Seagate 1TB drive from the enclosure and connected it to my computer without an enclosure using an IDE/SATA interface I bought for another purpose. The drive worked fine. Today I took another look at the situation - I was going to try another drive in the MadDog enclosure to see if that worked but instead decided to reinstall the Seagate 1TB into the enclosure and try again. Same result until...I started reading through the comments above which forced me to look closer at the back of the device. That's when I remembered the device has a physical switch in the back for eSATA vs USB. I hadn't used this device in many months and my eSATA card has never worked on external drives so I forgot about it. sure enough I powered down the drive, flipped the switch to USB an powered up again. Problem solved. I am not new to this stuff but even experienced users can make a silly mistake. I only hope your issues are as easily solved.

I had the same problem. My Fix was to use BOTH the USB Data Cable and the USB-to-Power cable. When I first started using it, it worked the USB alone. After a couple of days, however, it failed to power up. The Blue MadDog lable on the front wouldn;t light up, and when holding the unit to my ear, the spindle was not rotating. After finding a USB-to-power cable, which came with the unit, and hooking it up along with the data cable, the unit functioned fine. What sucks is that this uses up 2 USB ports. I have seen some USB cords with two leads that will branch POWER ONLY to one of them but then you end up with low performance and a rats nest of cables

I have an Iomega home network hard drive 1TB, but for some reason my xbox 360 will not pick it up. Does the drive need formatting to FAT32? How should i connect it to the xbox?

This box has to be connected via USB to a PC ...OR... via an Ethernet cable to a piece of network hardware, such as a router/switch/hub.

I recommend the Ethernet cable route.

Once connected, and assuming your router will give the media drive an IP address (you can check this from your router's admin page) then you should be able to browse to the hard drive from the XBox
