I just got this camera this morning for Christmas (It's 10 minutes past midnight at the time of writing this), going to be using it when i go on holiday in July 2010 :D
I've already taken several test pictures, and one 2 minute long video.
Maximum picture resolution is 4000 x 3000 pixels, which is twelve megapixels, which is very impressive. I have a samsung netbook that has a 1.2 megapixel webcam built in, and a Samsung G600, that has a 1.5 MP camera, this puts both of those to shame.
I haven't had much chance to play around with this, but I should have plenty of time in the near future.
It has a built-in microphone for recording audio (mono), intergrated speaker (also mono)
The video playback is excellent, very smooth, at at a maximum of 800 x 592 pixels at 20 frames per second for recording video, that's very good (almost HD res acording to my cousin) for a camera that's designed primarily for taking still images.
Audio playback on the camera itself does seem a little quiet, though that might have been due to the volume level, i had it set at about half :P, i'll have to record more test videos.
It also has a socket for mounting it on a tripod (which I don't have yet).
It comes with a USB cable and a mains plug that the USB cable plugs into, although the cable is pretty short, only about 50cm (I was expecting it to be longer, since it's also a charging cable). It also comes with an SD memory card (8 GB i think), and a recargable battery.
The built-in features it has include digital zoom, face detection, smile detection, red-eye removal (in image editing), Beauty shots (not sure what that is), exposure control, contrast settings, brightness settings, blacklight (nighttime, i think) settings, image stablizer (also for recording videos), and quitea a few other features, most of which i haven't tried yet.
There's no printed manual however, that comes on the acompaning CD-ROM in the form of an Adobe PDF (a seperate pdf is provided for each suported language, there's quite a few), each pdf is about 106 pages, so it's a bit to sift through. There IS a printed Quick Start Guide though. It also comes with a soft zip-up case.
The CD also includes Samsung Master, which can automatically download your files for you as soon as you connect the camera to a USB port (that can also be used to charge it), all you have to do is specify where you want the files downloaded to. The program also has the ability to create web albums, slideshows, and screen savers (which i think is rather cool)
There is also an option for installing XVid, which appears to be an encoder/decoder for Xvid MPEG-4 media files (I believe). I've yet to try it however, there is also an option to install a Xvid MPEG-4 codec.
The only slight gripe i have with it, is that the cover for the charging socket seems a little delicate, it might seem a little flimzy when you're pulling it back to plug in the cable, but it actually seems quite sterdy.
Overall, I think this is an excellent camera, and I'm very grateful my parents got this for me. :) I'm very happy with it, and I'm definately going to be putting this camera to good use. :)
